India’s automotive landscape is undergoing a quiet but profound transformation. As hybrid and electric vehicles shift from niche aspirations to mainstream purchases, they are bringing an entirely new category of technology along for the ride smart car accessories. Smart accessories for automobiles include everything from smart chargers to artificial intelligence driver assistants, including ADAS. With green cars becoming more popular in India, there is no denying that the accessories market is also changing quickly.
India’s connected vehicles market reached USD 6.49 billion in 2024, and industry analysts expect it to climb to USD 27.20 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 15.40%. Given the extent to which EVs require digital technology for efficient operation, and not being similar to fuel-based vehicles in this regard, the use of smart connective accessories is necessary to make the best out of batteries, navigation, and charging facilities.
Integrating Connected Technology
The cabin of a modern Indian hybrid or EV is no longer just a seating compartment, it is increasingly a digital workspace. Consumers in India are demanding richer digital experiences through infotainment systems integrated with streaming, navigation, voice control, and smartphone connectivity, and automakers are collaborating with tech giants to enhance user experience through app-based ecosystems. Consumer behaviour is making this shift unmistakable: 40% of Indian car buyers say they are willing to switch brands entirely for better in-car connectivity, a statistic that underscores just how central cabin technology has become to the purchase decision, particularly among buyers of higher-priced green vehicles.
The demand is translating into measurable market momentum. Over 35% of new vehicles in India were expected to feature embedded connectivity solutions by end of 2024, while over 60% of Indian consumers now prefer smart infotainment systems integrating AI-powered voice assistants, real-time navigation, and personalised media experiences.
Advancements in ADAS technology
Another noteworthy development in the realm of hybrid and electric vehicle accessories in India relates to safety technology. There has been an impressive increase of 50% year-over-year in OTA software updates. This technology has made it possible for manufacturers to remotely update vehicle software and improve security features. As far as EV and hybrid cars in India are concerned, this development means cars that can magically improve themselves without visiting workshops.
The use of ADAS is also increasing day by day. Functions like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, collision avoidance system, and driver monitoring systems are increasingly becoming a part of mid-level and economy segment vehicles. The implementation of V2X communication technology is expected to bring down road accidents by up to 30%. Better traffic management and predictions are the reasons behind this.
Smart Charging & Energy Management
When we talk about EV and plug-in hybrid cars in India, it is important to know which accessories really add value for such cars. One such accessory relates to smart charging and energy management. Connected car technology helps you monitor the health of the battery, locate charging stations, and check how much energy you utilize. Smart home charging units, app-controlled charge schedulers, and energy-usage dashboards are steadily finding their way into Indian households.
As sustainability priorities rise, connected cars will play a major role in supporting efficient mobility, EV integration, along with traffic management, with data-driven insights enabling predictive maintenance and energy optimization. For the price-sensitive Indian buyer who calculates cost-per-kilometre with precision these tools are not just gadgets. They are practical instruments for extracting maximum value from a vehicle that already costs more upfront than its petrol counterpart.
India’s hybrid and EV market is still in its growth phase, but the smart accessories riding alongside it are already shaping how owners interact with, maintain, and trust their vehicles. As 5G coverage expands and AI finds its way deeper into vehicle platforms, the line between the car and its accessories will blur and India’s green-vehicle owners will be among the first in the region to experience that convergence.
