India is moving fast towards electric vehicles, and big car brands are getting ready to launch some cool new EVs. With more people showing interest and the charging stations getting better, 2025 and the years after could be pretty game-changing. Here’s a quick look at six confirmed electric cars coming from well-known brands like Kia, MG, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Tata, and others.
1. Kia Clavis EV – Urban Lifestyle Electric SUV
Launch Timeline: Expected in late 2025 or early 2026
Segment: Sub-compact SUV
Powertrain: All-electric (EV only variant initially)
Kia is getting ready to launch a new SUV called the Kia Clavis, which will be an all-electric model in India. From the spy photos and reports, it looks like the Clavis will fit between the Kia Sonet and Seltos, targeting the city-friendly compact electric SUV market.
Kia hasn’t shared all the details yet, but it’s expected that the Clavis will be built on a platform made just for electric vehicles. It should have a battery range of about 350-400 kilometers, modern tech features, safety systems for driving assistance, and a tough, striking design.
The Clavis EV fits right into Kia India’s plan to expand its EV lineup beyond the EV6 and the upcoming EV9. It’s a more affordable and practical choice for people living in Indian cities.
2. MG M9 EV – Premium Electric MPV
Launch Timeline: Late 2025
Segment: Electric MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle)
Powertrain: Fully electric
MG Motor India seems to be gearing up to launch a new electric MPV, called the MG M9 EV. While there aren’t many official details yet, insiders think it will be based on the Maxus MIFA 9, which is already sold in other countries.
If that’s true, the MG M9 EV could come with a 90 kWh battery, offering a range of about 500 km and a powertrain with around 240 bhp. This model is set to be a luxury 6- or 7-seater, featuring high-quality interiors, large screens, self-driving tech, and smart connected systems.
It’s targeted at families looking for a high-end electric vehicle, but it might also catch the interest of premium taxi services or executive fleets wanting a greener option.
3. Maruti Suzuki eVX / e-Vitara – Maruti’s First EV
Launch Timeline: Early 2025 (production model confirmed for India)
Segment: Compact SUV
Powertrain: Fully electric
Platform: Co-developed with Toyota (27PL platform)
The Maruti Suzuki eVX, possibly called the e-Vitara in India, is one of the most awaited electric vehicles. Maruti has announced that their first global electric SUV, which debuted as a concept at Auto Expo 2023, is now making great progress in development.
The eVX will be built on a special EV platform (27PL) developed with Toyota and will features a 60 kWh battery, expected to offer a range of about 550 km. There might also be a smaller 48 kWh battery option for the mass market.
With its SUV design, modern interiors, touchscreen interface, and Maruti’s strong service and dealer network, the eVX could really shake up the EV market when it launches.
4. Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV – Twin of Maruti eVX
Launch Timeline: Mid to late 2025
Segment: Compact electric SUV
Platform: Shared with Maruti Suzuki eVX
Toyota is planning to roll out its own version of the eVX under the Urban Cruiser name. While the official name is still up in the air, you can expect it to have Toyota’s signature design, comfy interiors, and a solid list of features that set it apart from the Maruti version.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will be built on the same 27PL chassis as the eVX and will likely have the same battery and range. However, Toyota will probably aim to offer a fancier experience with extra tech and safety features.
This joint EV effort shows how Toyota and Maruti Suzuki are working together to boost their electric car lineup in India, as both brands look to make a mark in the growing mid-size EV SUV market.
5. Tata Harrier EV – Flagship Electric SUV
Launch Timeline: Late 2025
Segment: Mid-size electric SUV
Powertrain: Dual-motor AWD (expected)

Tata Motors is gearing up to electrify its popular Harrier SUV with the new Tata Harrier EV, which was first shown off at Auto Expo 2023 and later confirmed by the company. This electric version will have some noticeable design and structural updates compared to the regular gas model.
The Harrier EV is likely to come with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, a big battery pack around 60–70 kWh, and a range of about 450–500 km on one charge. Expect features like advanced driver assistance systems, a panoramic sunroof, a big touchscreen, great sound system, and vehicle-to-load technology.
With this launch, Tata aims to strengthen its spot in the premium electric SUV market and establish the Harrier EV as a key model in its Tata Passenger Electric Mobility brand.

Launch Timeline: Early to mid-2026 (India debut expected after global launch)
Segment: Electric sportscar / convertible roadster
Powertrain: Dual-motor AWD (540 hp)
Range: Up to 580 km (WLTP claimed)
The most exciting of the planned EVs is the MG Cyberster, an all-electric convertible sports vehicle created to honour MG’s heritage as a British performance brand. The Cyberster, which has already been launched in international countries such as China and Europe, is set to make its way to India.
It will have Lambo-style scissor doors, a futuristic cabin with a triple-screen layout, and a dual-motor AWD system capable of delivering up to 540 horsepower while sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 3 seconds. There is also a single-motor model with 309 horsepower.
MG claims a range of 500 to 580 kilometres, depending on the version. The Cyberster is a halo product with a focus on design, performance, and technology. It will most likely be imported to India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), aimed at premium EV fans.
