In a major step towards beginning sales in India, electric car company Tesla will open its first showroom in Mumbai on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

The showroom in Mumbai, the financial hub of India, will be referred to as an “experience centre” where prospective buyers may see Tesla’s product line and engage with its technology.

The action is part of Tesla’s accelerated strategy to enter the expanding Indian EV market.

A March report claims that the Elon Musk-led business confirmed long-awaited ambitions to create a physical presence in India by signing a lease agreement earlier this year to open its first store in Mumbai.

Tesla has already investigated possible showroom locations in Mumbai and New Delhi as part of its India strategy, and it has also stepped up recruitment efforts.

Following years of talks and policy debates with the government, the move signifies Tesla’s wider dedication to the Indian market.

As the business grows, the Mumbai store is anticipated to be the first of several in India.

India’s EV ecosystem may benefit from Tesla’s arrival, which may also encourage other domestic and international companies to speed up their infrastructure and product offerings.
