Tesla is accelerating the rollout of its supercharging network in India as the electric vehicle (EV) giant gears up for its anticipated September launch. The company is setting up high-speed charging stations across key urban hubs, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, to ensure a smooth entry into the country’s growing EV market.
According to a senior Tesla official quoted by PTI, construction is already underway at multiple sites, including Gurugram, Noida, and Saket in the Delhi region. Additional supercharger installations are planned for strategic locations in Mumbai and Bengaluru, aimed at addressing early adopter demand and supporting Tesla’s initial fleet.
The fast-tracked infrastructure push comes as part of Tesla’s broader strategy to establish a robust EV ecosystem before delivering its first batch of vehicles in India. Industry experts note that early charging network availability will be key to customer adoption, reducing “range anxiety” and ensuring long-distance travel compatibility from day one.
Tesla’s entry is expected to intensify competition in India’s EV sector, which is already witnessing aggressive expansion from both domestic players like Tata Motors and global manufacturers. The company’s superchargers, known for rapid charging speeds and seamless integration with Tesla’s vehicles, are likely to set new benchmarks for EV infrastructure in the country.
