The fast-changing Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) market has seen Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, expand its capabilities. TCS establishes an engineering centre in Romania in addition to two new automotive delivery centres in Germany, one in Munich and the other in Villingen-Schwenningen. The establishment of these additional hubs is a calculated step to assist TCS’ international automotive clients in expediting their shift to next-generation mobility solutions.

The German delivery facilities will assist manufacturers in creating and implementing TCS’ software-driven services, which address connected car technologies, entertainment, safety systems, and autonomous driving. To encourage early-stage development and innovation, the engineering centre in Romania will concentrate on creating and developing cutting-edge automotive software platforms. This growth is a component of TCS’s long-term plan to improve its chip-to-cloud technologies, services, and end-to-end automotive software capabilities.

Due to their advantageous position, these centres will be able to work closely with top European OEMs and international automakers, offering nearshore capabilities. Presently, the new centres are home to more than 100 skilled experts who will collaborate with more than 2000 SDV engineers across TCS locations worldwide. In order to support the entire product lifecycle from concept and development to production and post-launch support, this diverse and international talent pool will make it possible to develop next-generation automotive platforms for advanced driver assistance systems, digital cockpits and infotainment, and other crucial SDV functions.

“These new centres will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling us to deliver state-of-the-art solutions in autonomous driving and advanced cockpit systems,” stated Regu Ayyaswamy, Senior Vice President & Global Head, Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Engineering at TCS. Our dedication to spearheading the revolution in the software-defined vehicles market is reaffirmed by this growth.

The growth of TCS is in line with the global automotive industry’s transition to connected, software-defined, and autonomous vehicles. TCS is in a strong position to spearhead the shift as the need for intelligent car technology increases. Because of its thriving automotive industry and the presence of several top automakers, Europe is a strategically important area for TCS’ automotive delivery centres. With a strong presence in automotive centres around the area, TCS has been providing automotive services to customers throughout Europe for the past 25 years. Through digital engineering, IoT, cloud, and data analytics, the company has been providing cutting-edge solutions in the areas of digital cockpit, electrification, autonomous vehicles, and connected car ecosystems. With feature creation and testing in SDVs, TCS also uses generative AI to speed up product development, facilitating improved personalisation and quicker innovation.

The transition to software-defined cars is a turning point for the automotive sector, according to Anupam Singhal, President and Business Group Head, Manufacturing, TCS. We are strengthening our commitment to helping OEMs create the next generation of intelligent, connected, and sustainable vehicles with the opening of these additional centres. This expansion marks a significant turning point in our progress towards future-ready mobility, where AI-supported software, engineering, and design come together to provide drivers and passengers with safer, more individualised, and consistently improved experiences.

By utilising local talent and knowledge, developing stronger client relationships, and raising customer satisfaction, TCS’s presence in Europe strengthens its position in the global automotive value chain. With more than 45 years of experience in the area, TCS has a long history of being a reliable IT partner for businesses in Europe. TCS Europe employs more than fifteen thousand people.

Some of Europe’s top multinational corporations in manufacturing, telephony, retail, banking and financial services, travel, logistics, and other industries have benefited from TCS’s development and change during the course of this trip. With 62 offices throughout Europe and a diversified and adaptable staff, TCS remains a strategic transformation partner that helps companies manage change and succeed over the long term.
