Tata Power, India’s leading vertically integrated power company, in partnership with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEML), India’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, inaugurated Mumbai’s first premium, large-scale EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. The launch coincided with World EV Day and marks a significant step in India’s green mobility transition.
The new hub, located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport within The Leela Mumbai Hotel premises, is strategically designed to serve private EV owners, taxis, ride-hailing fleets, and logistics operators. It also caters to frequent flyers, hotel guests, and professionals travelling through the bustling Andheri–Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC)–South Mumbai corridor.
Equipped with eight fast DC chargers with speeds up to 120 kW and 16 charging bays, the hub can simultaneously charge up to 16 EVs, reducing wait times and ensuring seamless charging even during peak hours. The facility is powered entirely by renewable energy, aligning with Tata Power’s commitment to sustainability.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said,
“The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clean energy solutions and accelerating large-scale EV adoption across the country.”
Mr Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd & Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, added,

This MegaCharger hub is part of the TATA.ev MegaCharger network, which offers benefits like exclusive discounts of up to 25% and priority access for TATA.ev customers. Charging services are accessible via the Tata Power EZ Charge App, with future integration on the iRA.ev Connected Car app for TATA.ev owners.
Tata Power’s EV infrastructure footprint currently includes over 5,500 public and captive charging points, 1.4 lakh home chargers, and 1,200+ bus chargers across more than 630 cities and towns, with 1,000+ points in Mumbai alone. The company aims to expand to 7.5 lakh home chargers and 10,000 public charging points by 2030, further strengthening India’s green mobility ecosystem.
