By removing some of the models, Tata Motors has subtly reduced the number of Nexon EVs in its lineup. The Nexon EV came with three different battery capacities until the most recent update: 30 kWh, 40.5 kWh, and 45 kWh. The Nexon EV models that came with the 40.5 kWh variations have been retired by Tata Motors as of the most recent update.
In September 2024, the domestic automaker introduced the larger 45 kWh battery pack to its inventory, enhancing the Nexon EV’s range and appeal. The range of the now-defunct 40.5 kWh battery pack was 390 km (MIDC cycle), which is 99 km less than what the 45 kWh battery pack claims to deliver and 115 km higher than the 30 kWh battery pack. This upgrade ensures better long-distance usability and reduces charging frequency, making the Nexon EV more competitive.
There are 10 different Nexon EV models available as of the most recent release, catering to a wide range of buyers. The motor that powers the Nexon EV’s 30 kWh model produces 128 horsepower and 215 Nm of peak torque, making it suitable for urban commutes. However, a motor that generates 142 horsepower and 215 Nm of torque powers the 45 kWh models, offering a more powerful driving experience. The difference in power output and battery capacity allows Tata Motors to target both budget-conscious buyers and those seeking a premium electric driving experience with improved performance and efficiency.
