Global NCAP awarded Tata Motors the Safer Choice Award 2024. In crash testing conducted last year, the Harrier and Safari received the highest Global NCAP rating of five stars for the safety of adult and kid occupants.
After receiving the award, Mohan Savarkar, Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited said, “We are proud to have received the Global NCAP Safer Choice Award for our flagship SUVs, the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier. We have continued to be the pioneers in driving the safety conversation – ensuring that our commitment reflects in every vehicle we manufacture, regardless of price point.
After determining that the Safari and Harrier met the performance and volume requirements for Autonomous Emergency Breaking (AEB), speed assistance, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems, Tata Motors submitted the vehicles for additional Safer Choice conformity testing.
Safari and Tata Harrier: five-star safety
In GNCAP crash testing conducted last year, the Safari and Harrier received the highest Global NCAP score for adult and child occupant safety. One of the campaign’s final outcomes before Bharat NCAP’s upcoming activation is the voluntary tests.
Although the Harrier and Safari share the same chassis, the Harrier is an SUV with five seats and six airbags as standard, while the Safari is a three-row seater. Both received five stars for both adult and child occupants, demonstrating a strong restraint systems strategy and a stable structure that provided good protection during our testing.
The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and frontal and side impact protection of all models are evaluated by Global NCAP’s crash test protocols. For vehicles receiving the highest star ratings, examinations of side impact pole and pedestrian protection are necessary.
