Uttar Pradesh’s push toward clean energy, electric mobility, and industrial expansion received a significant boost following high-level discussions between the Hon’ble Chief Minister and senior leadership of the Tata Group. The review highlighted ongoing and proposed investments spanning power generation, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and infrastructure development across the state.

EV Manufacturing Expansion Aligned With State Subsidy Policy

In line with Uttar Pradesh’s progressive electric vehicle (EV) subsidy framework, Tata Sons expressed its intent to expand its vehicle manufacturing footprint in the state. Discussions explored the possibility of establishing dedicated EV manufacturing capabilities, along with the introduction of new electric vehicle models. The roadmap also includes accelerated deployment of electric buses and the strengthening of the overall EV ecosystem, including supply chains and supporting infrastructure.

Strengthening Power Security With Large-Scale Generation Projects

A key pillar of the Tata Group’s engagement in Uttar Pradesh remains power generation. The 1,900 MW Bara thermal power plant in Prayagraj, operating on a 360×3 configuration, continues to play a vital role in ensuring grid stability and meeting the state’s growing industrial energy demand. The facility remains central to Uttar Pradesh’s long-term power security strategy.

Expanding Renewable Energy Capacity Across Key Regions

Renewable energy development featured prominently in the discussions. The Tata Group confirmed the development of two 50 MW solar power plants in Bundelkhand and Prayagraj, reinforcing the state’s clean energy transition. These projects are expected to contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions while enhancing energy resilience.

      Rooftop Solar Rollout Gains Momentum

In addition to utility-scale projects, rooftop solar solutions are being scaled across 50 of Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts. This decentralised approach supports wider clean energy adoption, reduces reliance on conventional power sources, and strengthens energy access for urban and semi-urban consumers.

Infrastructure and Commercial Development in Noida

Supporting the state’s urban and commercial growth, construction is underway for four to five new Tata Group buildings in Noida. These projects are scheduled for phased completion by December 2026 and are expected to further cement Noida’s position as a major corporate, technology, and commercial hub in North India.

Continued Focus on Defence Manufacturing Ecosystem

The Tata Group also reaffirmed its alignment with Uttar Pradesh’s defence manufacturing ambitions. Engagement across key defence industrial corridors and nodes aims to enhance manufacturing depth, technological capabilities, and industrial diversification within the state.

Integrated Growth Model Positions Uttar Pradesh for the Future

The discussions highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s integrated development approach, where clean energy expansion, electric mobility, industrial growth, and infrastructure development advance in parallel. With sustained collaboration between the state government and industry leaders like the Tata Group, Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself as a resilient, future-ready economic powerhouse.
