According to Industries Minister T R B Rajaa, the Tamil Nadu government is in talks with the state power board to assist the installation of charging infrastructure along important roads and highways, with the goal of boosting the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

He stressed the government’s encouragement for EV manufacturers to invest in charging stations, which is consistent with the state’s drive for the electric vehicle industry as outlined in the newly announced EV policy.

The government intends to develop a complete EV ecosystem, including infrastructure and charging stations, in Tamil Nadu, where a substantial number of two-wheelers and four-wheelers are made.

Rajaa alluded to probable announcements during the Global Investors Meet in January 2024, emphasizing the state’s intention to making Tamil Nadu a renowned base for electric car manufacturing.

The EV policy intends to attract significant investments and create job opportunities, establishing Tamil Nadu as a leader in the production of electric vehicles.

Furthermore, the government has granted a 100% road tax exemption for battery-powered vehicles until December 31, 2025, further incentivizing electric vehicle adoption.
