As a unique gift from the Indian government and people to the Mauritian government and people, SWITCH Mobility officially opened the first batch of 10 electric buses (out of 100 E-buses) for the National Transport Corporation (NTC) of Mauritius.

Osman Mahomed, Minister of Land Transport; Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius; Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, GCSK, FRCP, Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius; and other Indian and Mauritian dignitaries performed the ceremonial launch.

      The SWITCH EiV12 buses

Specifically designed and produced at SWITCH’s state-of-the-art plant in Chennai, a crucial hub in the company’s worldwide supply chain, are these 100 SWITCH EiV12 buses. The buses strengthen India’s emerging position as a worldwide centre for EV manufacture by fusing Indian manufacturing know-how with international design and technology.

With space for up to 45 passengers, the all-electric SWITCH EiV12 platform is designed, built, and optimised for contemporary urban journeys. In terms of performance, safety, dependability, durability, and passenger comfort, it meets international requirements.

Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) in India held an open tender to deliver the buses, which would be run by the National Transport Corporation (NTC), the state-owned public transport company in Mauritius.

The SWITCH EiV12 is a lightweight solution that improves city mobility and is designed for short- and medium-distance urban travel. Rapid recharging and optimal use of depot space are guaranteed by the vehicle’s effective rear-end dual-gun charging interface.

The car provides effective fleet management, ITMS, and real-time vehicle health monitoring thanks to SWITCH iON, the unique telematics technology. An innovative Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS) is installed on the bus. The LFP batteries installed on the floor help to improve vehicle stability by lowering the centre of gravity.

      SWITCH Mobility: Official quote

“We are proud to deliver our SWITCH EiV 12 electric buses to Mauritius, a significant milestone that brings our ‘Make in India, for the World’ vision to life,” stated RG Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer of SWITCH Mobility. The SWITCH EiV12 buses help Mauritius achieve its goal of a sustainable and healthy future by fusing cutting-edge international technology with the power of Indian manufacture.

“Our shared commitment to clean mobility, improved urban transport, environmental preservation, and an improved quality of life for Mauritian citizens is reflected in this partnership,” he continued. We are committed to providing Mauritius with intelligent, effective, and environmentally responsible transit options through our sophisticated technology, which will accelerate the development of cleaner, more resilient cities.
