A significant milestone in their ongoing partnership was announced by Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation: the delivery of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) SUV designed by Suzuki to Toyota, which will begin production in the spring of 2025 at Suzuki’s Gujarat, India, facility. This expands the firms’ collaborative products into the expanding SUV market and represents their first electric vehicle relationship with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
With a focus on offering accessible mobility options globally, the two automakers, who have significant roots in Enshu, Shizuoka Prefecture, have collaborated since 2016. The production and distribution of automobiles throughout Japan, India, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East are only a few of the noteworthy outcomes of their collaboration. They now hope to strengthen their commitment to a carbon-neutral future with this all-electric SUV.
Built as a BEV from the ground up, the new model combines a roomy cabin and a longer range with agile BEV-driven performance. An optional 4WD system designed for rough terrain and strong performance is included. The BEV platform, which was co-developed with Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., makes use of each business’s advantages in electrification and production efficiency.
Suzuki and Toyota are positioned to provide a potent new option for globally ecologically aware consumers with their combined electric SUV, demonstrating their dedication to sustainable mobility.
