In March or April, Suzuki Motor Corp., which debuted the e Vitara, its first production-ready electric vehicle, will begin manufacturing the vehicle at Maruti Suzuki India’s Gujarat plant. It is anticipated that e Vitara sales will start in Europe, India, and Japan in the summer of 2025.

“As part of our goal to become carbon neutral, this is a really significant milestone.” At the launch of the automaker’s first electric car in Milan, Italy, Toshihiro Suzuki, President and Representative Director of Suzuki Motor, stated that production (of the e Vitara) will start in spring 2025 in India at Suzuki Motor Gujarat.

The concept car “eVX,” which debuted at the Japan Mobility Show in October of last year and the Auto Expo in India in January 2023, is the basis for the e VITARA, a mid-size SUV.

According to its growth goal for the fiscal year 2030, Suzuki Motor’s primary business regions are Europe, India, and Japan.

With almost 61% of total output and 57% of total global sales in the previous fiscal year, India is the largest market for the fifth-largest automaker in Japan.

Maruti Suzuki recently purchased the Gujarat plant from its parent firm, Suzuki Motor Corp., which has three production lines and can produce 750,000 cars annually. By the end of this decade, Maruti Suzuki intends to nearly increase its production capacity to 4 million automobiles.

With three plants—two in Haryana (Gurugram and Manesar) and one in Gujarat—the Indian subsidiary can presently produce 2.35 million cars annually. The carmaker is also establishing two greenfield plants in Haryana and Gujarat.
