Soracom Inc and Suzuki Motor Corporation have signed an agreement to pursue applications of advanced IoT technologies in the field of mobility services.

The move is motivated by the fast changes taking place in the global automotive industry, which have been hastened by significant development in electrification and automation, as well as extensive consumer acceptance of linked vehicle or telematics-based capabilities. Automotive makers may now leverage recent developments in hardware, software, and communication to develop new services and provide new levels of comfort, convenience, and safety.

Soracom, which will be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on March 26, 2024, and Suzuki will look at ways to work together to develop new mobility-focused solutions using cutting-edge IoT technology. Potential emphasis areas include electric vehicles (EVs) tailored for the global market, modular’mobility base units’, and innovative technologies and services that enable carbon neutrality.
