At Intersolar Europe 2025, SolarEdge Technologies, Inc., a leader in smart energy technology worldwide, unveiled a brand-new solar-powered EV charging system for business clients. As a result of SolarEdge’s 2024 acquisition of Wevo Energy, the recently disclosed solution incorporates a specialised EV charger for companies that is easily connected with the business’s energy management system.
Businesses that use SolarEdge systems may now fuel their EV fleets with optimised solar energy thanks to the new service, which is intended to improve SolarEdge’s commercial and industrial (C&I) solar and storage ecosystem. Early adopters are already seeing significant cost reductions thanks to this innovation; one of the first beta clients reported a 70% decrease in EV charging expenses.
Christoph Vogl, CEO of BV-comOffice GmbH, a well-known office store in Germany, stated, “Since implementing SolarEdge’s PV and EV charging solution, we have been able to reduce our EV fleet charging costs by approximately 70% – a significant savings on our energy bill.” The system’s flexibility has also impressed me; it enables us to prioritise various vehicles, ensuring that our sales representatives are always prepared for the road and that other staff members can have their cars charged by the end of the workday. The fact that our employees are using renewable energy to charge their automobiles makes them quite happy as well; everyone is enjoying it.
The SolarEdge ONE EV Charger is now available
The SolarEdge ONE EV Charger has a small, thin design that can operate in both single-phase and three-phase modes. It is now available for commercial usage and is anticipated to be deployed in homes in Q3 2025. Multiple cable entry points, snap-on wall mounting, and automatic switching enable a flexible and speedy installation in a matter of minutes. “Olivia”, an AI-powered phone support person specialising in EV charging help, provides additional support for the device.
Enhanced Integration of Solar, Storage, and EV
The technology automatically chooses the most economical energy source—whether solar, battery, or grid—to power a fleet by combining charging schedules with solar generating statistics and real-time grid electricity pricing. To optimise returns, extra solar energy can be diverted to EV charging by utilising SolarEdge’s C&I inverter capabilities, which support up to 175% oversizing.
Additionally, the system includes tiered charging modes that prioritise grid access for key fleet vehicles (such as sales representatives’ vehicles) while limiting less urgent vehicles to charging only when solar energy is available. Additionally, companies can expand up to 20 times more chargers without going over infrastructure constraints by dynamically modifying EV charging based on current load levels.
Launch of an Improved Energy Management Platform
SolarEdge started rolling out its SolarEdge ONE for C&I monitoring and energy optimisation software globally at the same time as the charger launch. With real-time warnings to minimise downtime and boost operational efficiency, the platform provides maintenance personnel with remote troubleshooting, live device operation, and configuration capabilities.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen strong momentum in our C&I PV portfolio,” stated Shuki Nir, CEO of SolarEdge. Our portfolio is growing into a more complete and integrated energy ecosystem with the addition of our large-scale 330kW inverter, commercial storage battery, and sophisticated energy management software. Since an EV fleet is only as clean as the energy that drives it, the successful integration of solar energy and public EV infrastructure is a crucial component for more affordable and sustainable EV charging.
With this announcement, SolarEdge further establishes its position as a key player in the integration of energy storage, electric vehicles, and solar power for a sustainable energy future.
