Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has marked a major milestone by producing 2 million vehicles locally, highlighting India’s strategic importance within the Group’s global manufacturing and export network. This landmark achievement underscores the company’s sustained growth and strong consumer demand for India-developed models.

The milestone includes over 500,000 vehicles built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, designed and engineered in India by local teams. Models such as the Škoda Kushaq, Slavia, Kylaq, and Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus form the backbone of this growth, reflecting both domestic appeal and global benchmarking standards. Remarkably, the last 500,000 vehicles were produced in just 3.5 years, demonstrating the strong market acceptance of India-built vehicles.

Robust commercial outcomes have also bolstered SAVWIPL’s performance. October 2025 marked the Group’s best month in six years and its second-highest monthly sales in India. Škoda Auto India posted a record 10-month performance, more than doubling year-on-year sales to 61,607 units, while Volkswagen India recorded its highest-ever monthly sales for the Virtus, with over 40% share in 40 months in the premium sedan segment.

The Group’s premium and luxury brands continue to contribute to its expanding market presence. Bentley India launched new showrooms in Mumbai and Bengaluru, consolidating sales, marketing, and after-sales operations. Porsche India added more than 4,400 customers over six years, expanding to 13 points of sale. Audi strengthened India’s EV ecosystem with over 6,500 charging points installed under Phase II of its Charge My Audi initiative, while the RS Q8 won the Performance Car of the Year 2025 AutoX Award. Meanwhile, Lamborghini India achieved its best-ever annual performance in 2024, delivering 113 cars, a 10% increase over 2023, and launched the Temerario, completing its hybrid transition strategy.

Exports remain a vital pillar of SAVWIPL’s operations. More than 700,000 vehicles have been exported from India to markets across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, reinforcing India’s role as a key hub under the “Made in India, Driven by the World” vision.

The group operates two advanced manufacturing facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, supported by nearly €600 million investment. These plants enable higher volumes, deeper localisation, and agility to support a multi-brand, multi-market strategy. By combining local engineering capabilities with global technology, SAVWIPL is positioning India as a hub for domestic and international vehicle production.

Commenting on the achievement, Piyush Arora, CEO & MD, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, stated:

“The 2 million production milestone reflects our confidence in India as a critical market and manufacturing hub. It is the result of consistent investment in people, technology, and local capabilities, and highlights the trust Indian customers place in our six brands. Their evolving expectations shape the products we design and build locally, with global quality and precision.”

Looking ahead, SAVWIPL continues to focus on cost optimisation, localisation, and market performance, leveraging India’s strengths to sustain growth, enhance profitability, and strengthen its global competitiveness.
