Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) presented its draft budget for 2026–27 with a total outlay of ₹3,224.4 crore, emphasizing sustainable development and urban infrastructure. Municipal Commissioner G. Sreekanth described the budget as a “roadmap for the city’s development,” incorporating citizen feedback to accelerate progress and address ground-level needs.
For the first time, CSMC plans to issue green municipal bonds to fund eco-friendly projects. The budget includes ₹25 crore for a solar park to provide renewable energy for the city’s water supply scheme and ₹1 crore for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the city.
The budget also allocates ₹2 crore for pay-and-use public toilets and ₹1 crore for a tourism festival to boost Sambhajinagar’s status as Maharashtra’s “tourism capital.” Following recent anti-encroachment drives, ₹20 crore is set aside for road construction and infrastructure development.
Other allocations include ₹9.7 crore for public parks, ₹5 crore for a GIS-based tree mapping system, and ₹2.5 crore for a digital tree census. Animal welfare measures feature ₹1 crore for sterilisation of stray dogs, ₹50 lakh for dog-collaring projects, and funds for pet parks and cemeteries. Education and sports also received significant funding, with ₹13.6 crore for schools and ₹10 crore for new playgrounds.
The draft budget will be reviewed by the mayor and standing committee before final approval.
