Royal Enfield has officially stepped into the electric mobility space with plans to launch its first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6, in India in the coming months.
The motorcycle was first showcased as a prototype at (EICMA) Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori in Milan, Italy, one of the world’s most prominent motorcycle exhibitions where global manufacturers unveil new models and technologies.
The Flying Flea C6 draws inspiration from the original Royal Enfield Flying Flea, a lightweight motorcycle developed during World War II for paratroopers between 1942 and 1945. The historic model was known for its 56 kg weight, allowing it to be parachuted into battle zones.
Design and Features
The upcoming electric motorcycle retains several design elements seen on the prototype, including:
- Circular LED headlamp
- Exposed aluminium frame
- Belt drive system for smoother riding
- Girder fork suspension designed to enhance stability and steering control
- Center stand
Test mules of the motorcycle have reportedly been spotted in Chennai and Ladakh, indicating ongoing road testing ahead of launch.
Market Positioning
The Flying Flea C6 is expected to be positioned as a premium offering in Royal Enfield’s lineup, likely priced between its existing 450cc and 650cc models such as the Classic 350 and Continental GT 650.
While the company has confirmed its entry into the EV segment, an official launch date and pricing details have not yet been announced.
