Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer River has announced an extended 8-year or 80,000 km warranty for its flagship electric scooter, the River Indie, effective from October 1, 2025. This comprehensive coverage includes both the battery and motor, setting a new benchmark for customer assurance in India’s EV market.
The extended warranty covers key conditions, including:
-
Battery: Protection if the battery’s State of Health (SOH) drops below 70%.
-
Motor: Coverage if the motor becomes non-functional despite professional repair attempts.
The extended warranty plan is available to new buyers who purchased the River Indie after April 1, 2025, at a cost of ₹8,399 plus GST. Existing customers with a 5-year extended warranty can upgrade to the new 8-year plan for ₹3,399 plus GST during a limited one-month enrolment period.
River currently operates 32 outlets across 15 cities, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Visakhapatnam, and plans to expand to additional cities such as Pune, Vijayawada, and Trivandrum by 2026, ensuring broader service coverage for its customers.
Founded in 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River has attracted investments from global firms, including Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co., Marubeni Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, and Toyota Ventures. The company has been recognised for its commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction in India’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler market.
With this 8-year battery and motor warranty, River aims to strengthen consumer confidence in EV adoption, providing long-term reliability and support to its customers while reinforcing its position as a key player in India’s electric mobility sector.
