Sales of River Mobility’s Indie electric scooter, which is located in Bengaluru, are increasing. River Indie’s total sales in 2024 were 2,515 units, and the company has already witnessed a 77% growth in total sales in 2025. Since sales of the Indie electric scooter started in 2023, River has sold more than 7,000 of them. Data indicates that when River upgraded the scooter with a final chain drive and set the pricing at Rs. 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom), sales began to increase. Recently, the company’s monthly sales reached 1,000 units, and its revenue surpassed Rs. 100 crore.
Although the new model was more expensive than the previous model, the company is still experiencing a rise in sales of the electric scooter, which is mostly sold in Western and Southern India. The 4 kWh battery pack that powers the River Indie electric scooter has a 161 km stated range. In five hours, it can be charged from 0% to 80%. With a maximum torque of 26 Nm, the electric motor generates 6.7 kW in total. The electric scooter can reach a top speed of 90 km/h and is said to go from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.7 seconds.
Yamaha and River Mobility will soon work together, and the Japanese two-wheeling behemoth will launch a brand-new model based on the existing River Indie to compete in the low-cost electric scooter market. According to sources, the next Yamaha EV, code-named RY01, will share the River Indie’s powertrain and battery management technology. It should be mentioned that in February 2024, Yamaha Motor Co. of Japan made an investment of approximately $40 million in River. Through third-party allocation, the investment was made for River’s Series B round of financing.
