Renault has officially launched the Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric, with prices starting at €19,490 (before incentives), reinforcing its strategy to democratise electric mobility across Europe. Positioned firmly in the A-segment, the compact electric city car is designed to make zero-emission driving accessible to a wider urban audience.
The launch underscores Renault’s ambition to offer practical, affordable, and sustainable EV solutions tailored for daily city use.
Powertrain, Battery and Urban-Focused Range
The Twingo E-Tech Electric is powered by a 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor paired with a 27.5 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP-certified range of up to 263 km. This setup makes it well-suited for short commutes, urban errands, and last-mile mobility needs.
Renault’s focus remains on efficiency, ease of use, and low running costs—key factors for first-time EV buyers in city environments.
Charging Capabilities for Everyday Convenience
The electric hatchback comes equipped with 6.6 kW AC charging as standard, allowing a full charge in just over four hours. Customers can also opt for an Advanced Charge pack, which adds 11 kW AC bidirectional charging and 50 kW DC fast charging capability.
With DC fast charging, the Twingo E-Tech can recharge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes, enhancing its usability for urban drivers with limited charging windows. The optional bidirectional feature also enables Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and, in select markets, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality.
Trims, Features and Interior Practicality
Renault is offering the Twingo E-Tech Electric in two main trims:
-
Evolution (from €19,490): Features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, sliding rear seats, manual air conditioning, and essential ADAS features.
-
Techno (from €21,090): Adds premium features such as OpenR Link infotainment with Google built-in, one-pedal driving, adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control, a rear-view camera, and a foldable front passenger seatback.
Despite its compact 3.79-metre length, the five-door Twingo E-Tech offers impressive flexibility, with up to 360 litres of boot space thanks to its modular seating—rare in the A-segment.
Market Rollout and Booking Timeline
Pre-orders for the Techno trim begin on 16 December 2025 for holders of Renault’s Twingo R-Pass, with general bookings opening on 8 January 2026 across select European markets including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The more affordable Evolution trim is expected to become available for ordering in spring 2026.
Driving EV Adoption Through Competitive Pricing
Renault has highlighted that, in markets such as France, government incentives could reduce the effective purchase price to as low as €14,720, significantly lowering the entry barrier to electric mobility.
With rising competition from low-cost EVs, particularly from Chinese manufacturers, the Twingo E-Tech Electric represents Renault’s strategic response—combining affordability, trusted engineering, and urban-friendly design.
A Key Step in Renault’s Electric Strategy
The launch of the Twingo E-Tech Electric marks a critical step in Renault’s broader electrification roadmap. By offering a well-equipped, sub-€20,000 electric vehicle, the automaker aims to accelerate mass EV adoption and strengthen its leadership in Europe’s compact electric car segment.
Designed for city living, the Twingo E-Tech Electric blends accessibility, sustainability, and everyday practicality—bringing electric mobility closer to the mainstream.
