A new electric scooter that closely resembles the venerable Kinetic DX has been patented by Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd, Kinetic’s new EV-focused subsidiary. The Kinetic DX Electric, an electric variant of the DX, will be the first offering from the new subsidiary.
Design
A scooter with the recognisable characteristic styling of the DX is seen in the design patent, which was just issued in the official journal and dates back to March 4, 2025. With some contemporary additions, the overall shape, handlebar cowl, side panels, headlamp design, and three-spoke wheel resemble the original Kinetic DX scooter. It might have LED lighting throughout, with the indications most likely being the horizontal “Y”-shaped components adjacent to the headlamp.
Specifications
We may anticipate that it will have a mid-mounted motor; however, the specifications have not yet been disclosed. There might not be as much storage capacity as, for instance, the Ather Rizta because the battery might be under the seat. Anticipate that the battery pack will be fixed, matching all of its direct competitors. We anticipate that it will provide a claimed range of at least three digits.
The patent graphic also makes it evident that the original Kinetic scooter’s trailing link suspension has been replaced with a telescopic front fork. It is also quite probable that both wheels will have a diameter of 12 inches.
Competitors
The new Kinetic DX may compete with other family-friendly electric scooters such as the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Honda Activa e, and Vida V2 once it is released. Back then, the original Kinetic DX was one of the most well-liked family-friendly scooters due to its reputation for being reasonably priced. It makes sense for Kinetic to capitalise on the DX’s popularity and release an electric version now that pollution regulations are becoming stricter.
It is evident that Kinetic is getting ready to make a significant comeback to the electric scooter market now that the design patent has been formally submitted. The e-Luna, the electric variant of the well-known moped, comes after this. Family scooter purchasers will be the target market for the incoming Kinetic DX electric scooter, whereas the e-Luna is more of a commercial (B2B) offering. The scooter should be released by the company in a few months, most likely in August 2025.
