      Refex to Infuse Rs 240 Cr for EV Fleet Expansion

      Refex Group has revealed its intentions to invest Rs 240 crore in its green mobility venture- Refex Green Mobility- to expand its business of providing third-party employee transportation using electric vehicles (EV) across the country.

      RefexThe company, which launched its service in Chennai, after Bengaluru in March this year, is looking to take its EV fleet strength to 2000 in a year by introducing its services to three new cities – Hyderabad, Pune and New Delhi.

      In the long-term, the company plans to have a fleet of 10,000 e-cars over three years. It has so far got 497 e-cars in its fleet.

      Anil Jain, MD, Refex Group, said that while the team at Refex Green Mobility has been working hard in Bengaluru since its commencement of operations in March, starting in Chennai to serve the corporate was a natural progression for the company. “The vertical commenced operations in March 2023 from Bengaluru as an all-EV initiative to cater to the entire spectrum of corporate and business travel needs,” he said.

      It has got eight corporate clients in Bengaluru and one in Chennai. “We have just rolled out the service in Chennai and we have been getting good inquiries from the prospective clients,” he said. The company has rolled out 41 e-cars in the city on Monday. The services will not only help Refex Group increase its ESG footprint, but also help the service recipient corporate entities in abating carbon dioxide emission and reducing their carbon footprint.

      “This is the right moment to also announce our new office in the heart of Chennai city. The 15,300 sq feet office space can accommodate 200 employees and has the best of facilities for their comfort,” he said.

      Refex Group has a diversified portfolio of businesses such as refrigerant gas, renewables, ash and coal handling, medical technologies, pharmaceuticals, airports and transportation.
