Bhajanlal Sharma met with Takashi Nakajima to discuss the expansion of electric vehicle manufacturing by Honda Cars India Limited in Rajasthan.
The meeting focused on the production of Honda’s first electric vehicle model, the Honda 0 Alpha, which is scheduled to commence later this year at the company’s Tapukara plant in Tapukara. The project involves an investment of ₹1,200 crore and is aimed at boosting the state’s EV ecosystem while strengthening local manufacturing capabilities.
Sharma highlighted that the Tapukara facility will serve as a central hub for this new EV production line, providing momentum to Rajasthan’s industrial landscape and supporting economic growth. He noted that the initiative aligns with broader government policies such as Make in India and Rajasthan’s industrial development vision, including the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, during which Honda was invited to invest in EV production.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the project’s potential to generate employment opportunities for local youth, strengthening the state’s workforce in the emerging EV and green mobility sector.
The announcement marks a key step in Rajasthan’s transition toward sustainable transportation and electric mobility, reflecting growing industry-government collaboration in India’s EV market. With production at Tapukara set to begin later this year, Honda’s investment reinforces the state’s position as an emerging hub for electric vehicle manufacturing and technological innovation.
