The government of Rajasthan has proposed a ₹200 crore subsidy program to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) throughout the state, marking a significant step in the promotion of electric transportation. The program is a component of a larger plan to lower vehicle pollution, cut carbon emissions, and create a sustainable transportation ecology.

The EV Subsidy Program’s Main Goals
The goal of the subsidy program is to:

      • Reduce the cost of cars to promote the use of EVs.
      • Reduce emissions from automobiles that run on fossil fuels to lessen the state’s carbon footprint.
      • Increase the number of EV charging stations and other facilities.
      • Encourage investment and strengthen the regional EV manufacturing industry.

      Financial Rewards for EV Purchasers
Financial incentives for various types of electric vehicles will be offered under the program:

      • ₹4,000 to ₹10,000 per unit (1,000,000 units) for two-wheelers.
      • 50,000 units of e-rickshaws and e-carts cost between ₹4,000 and ₹20,000 each.
      • 7,000 four-wheelers cost between ₹3,000 to ₹50,000 each.
      • 500 units of electric buses cost between ₹1,00,000 and ₹5,00,000 each.
      • Special subsidies are available for 7,000 units of retrofitted electric vehicles.

To further reduce purchasing costs, customers of EVs with cutting-edge battery technology will also be eligible for State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) rebate.

      Qualifications
Buyers must fulfil the following requirements in order to be eligible for the subsidy:

      • The EV needs to be bought by September 1, 2022, at the latest.
      • It needs to be registered and bought from a Rajasthani dealer.
      • Eligible EVs must have sophisticated battery technology that has been approved by the government.

      Procedure for Applications
EV purchasers can use the Rajasthan Transport Department’s website to request for incentives by:

      • entering the chassis and registration numbers of their cars.
      • finishing the OTP verification process.
      • uploading the required files, such as bank account information.
      • obtaining the subsidy after verification by a direct bank transfer.

Rajasthan is making significant progress towards sustainable mobility with this ₹200 crore subsidy program. The program is anticipated to promote the state’s renewable energy industry and hasten the switch to electric automobiles.
