Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of Italy’s Piaggio Group, has unveiled two new electric three-wheeler models—Ape E-City Ultra and Ape E-City FX Maxx—as part of its growing Ape Electrik range. The launch is a strategic move to cater to India’s rapidly growing demand for affordable and efficient electric last-mile mobility solutions.

The Ape E-City FX Maxx is priced at ₹3.30 lakh, while the more advanced Ultra model is available at ₹3.88 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India). With these launches, Piaggio aims to strengthen its leadership in the electric passenger three-wheeler segment, offering products with best-in-class range, performance, and cost-efficiency.

Ape E-City FX Maxx: Compact and Capable

The FX Maxx is powered by an 8.0 kWh prismatic-cell battery, delivering a certified range of 174 km on a single charge. It features a 7.4 kW electric motor with 30 Nm of torque, enabling smooth urban drives and 19% gradeability—ideal for congested city conditions.

The FX Maxx also incorporates smart energy features such as remote tracking, real-time diagnostics, and 4G-enabled telematics, allowing fleet owners to monitor vehicle performance remotely. A 5-year/225,000 km warranty further assures long-term reliability.

      Ape E-City Ultra: Segment-Leading Range

The top-of-the-line Ape E-City Ultra offers a certified range of 236 km, making it one of the longest-range electric three-wheelers in India. This model is powered by a 10.2 kWh LFP battery and a 12.8 hp motor delivering 45 Nm of torque, ensuring better acceleration, 28% gradeability, and a top speed of 55 km/h.

Designed for robust usage, the Ultra features Climb Assist Mode, a 3 kW fast-charging option, and a digitally advanced cabin with a smart instrument cluster, live battery status, and distance-to-empty (DTE) information. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates for future enhancements.

Strategic Focus on Sustainability and Performance

Speaking at the launch event, Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., said:

“India is undergoing a major shift towards electric mobility.” “With our new models, we deliver best-in-class range, durability, and performance, tailored for Indian road and usage conditions.”

Amit Sagar, Executive Vice President, added:

“The Ultra and FX Maxx have been developed with a focus on low total cost of ownership and uninterrupted operations.” “Our fleet support systems and service network ensure maximum uptime for customers.”

      Support Ecosystem and After-Sales

Both models come with an advanced Battery Management System (BMS), integrated telematics for fleet operators, and Piaggio’s growing nationwide EV dealership and service support infrastructure. These vehicles are expected to particularly benefit auto-rickshaw operators, fleet aggregators, and small business owners seeking a sustainable, cost-efficient transport solution.
