Due to slow sales from its primary customer, Tesla (TSLA.O), Panasonic Holdings (6752.T), opens new tab, will delay its intention to fully operationalise its new U.S. electric vehicle battery facility by March 2027.
According to some reports, the revised goal date for the $4 billion project in the U.S. state of Kansas to attain full production of 30 gigawatt-hours has not yet been set.
Panasonic stated that it was unable to comment at this time.
According to some reports, bulk production at the Kansas facility, Panasonic’s second sizable battery plant in the US after one in Nevada, is expected to begin shortly.
The expiration of U.S. EV tax incentives, a decline in sales as a result of an ageing vehicle lineup, and CEO Elon Musk’s public dispute with U.S. President Donald Trump are just a few of the issues Tesla has been facing.
