CM Rekha Gupta predicted that cloud seeding techniques would provide the nation’s capital its first artificial rain “very soon.”

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Tuesday that starting November 1, only BS-VI (Bharat Stage 6) or CNG or EV commercial cars will be permitted entry into the city as part of the Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025.

Gupta stated at a press conference that “any vehicle that comes to Delhi from November 1, 2025, will have to be a BS6, CNG, or EV commercial vehicle.”

“Clean, green, and healthy Delhi” is the state government’s goal, she said, and the Environment Ministry of Delhi has created an Air Pollution Mitigation Plan for this year to achieve it.

Environment Day is quickly approaching, and we are all affected by Delhi’s air pollution. We have been dealing with air pollution for years. Clean Delhi, Green Delhi, Healthy Delhi is our dream. The Delhi chief minister expressed his happiness at the excellent Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025 that our Environment Department and Minister had created.

According to Gupta, cloud seeding techniques would be used “very soon” to create the first artificial rain in the nation’s capital.

“Very soon, Delhi will have its first artificial rain through cloud seeding,” the chief minister stated.

In order to use cutting-edge methods to fight pollution, she said the Delhi government would enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with scientific organisations. As a pilot project, an MOU has been inked with IIT Kanpur for cloud seeding and artificial rain.

“We will sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with all of our scientific organisations, who will employ their most recent breakthroughs to assist the Delhi government in its efforts to decrease and eradicate pollution. For instance, we have authorised the Delhi government’s Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Kanpur to begin as a pilot project. It is based on cloud seeding and artificial rain,” Gupta stated.

According to the chief minister of Delhi, the government intends to place “mist sprayers” in places that are frequently designated as pollution hotspots in order to control dust particles.

“It will be mandatory to install anti-smog guns on all high-rise buildings, especially commercial buildings above 3,000 metres, malls, hotels, etc. and due to this, dust mitigation will be reduced in the entire Delhi,” Gupta stated.

In order to identify and stop end-of-life vehicles that contribute to pollution, the Delhi government also intends to deploy Automatic Number Plate Registration (ANPR) recognition cameras at all access points to the metropolitan area, she said.

In order to detect end-of-life vehicles, we will install Automatic Number Plate Registration (ANPR) Recognition cameras at all Delhi entry points. Once the vehicle is within range of these cameras, it will be recognised as an end-of-life vehicle that is causing pollution, and it will be promptly stopped and traced. All petrol stations will also have these cameras installed, allowing us to identify cars that are nearing the end of their useful lives. “By working together, we can address Delhi’s significant pollution issue,” the chief minister of Delhi stated.

According to Gupta, the Delhi government plans to plant 70 lakh saplings this year and will begin the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign on June 5.

“To create a green Delhi, we will need to undertake extensive plantation work. Beginning on June 5, the Delhi government will begin a big “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. This year, 70 lakh seedlings are to be planted. Our goal is to improve the air quality in Delhi. People should choose to stay in Delhi rather than travel elsewhere because the air there is good,” she remarked.
