OMC Power has entered the electric vehicle (EV) battery repurposing sector through a strategic partnership with Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. The collaboration aims to give a second life to used lithium-ion EV batteries, transforming them for stationary energy storage and other non-automotive applications.

Under the partnership, OMC Power will leverage its expertise in energy storage systems, renewable energy, and battery management solutions to convert Honda’s end-of-life EV batteries into reliable stationary energy storage units. These repurposed batteries can be used for grid support, backup power solutions, and other sustainable energy applications, contributing to improved energy efficiency and reduced reliance on conventional power sources.

This initiative aligns with India’s growing focus on sustainability and circular economy principles within the EV ecosystem. With the adoption of electric vehicles rising across the country, large volumes of used batteries are expected to enter the market in the coming years. Battery repurposing not only reduces environmental waste but also extends the lifecycle of valuable lithium-ion cells, making EVadoption more environmentally and economically sustainable.

Industry analysts have highlighted that partnerships like this are crucial for building an integrated EV ecosystem in India, addressing both environmental concerns and the increasing demand for energy storage solutions. The OMC Power-Honda collaboration marks a significant step toward sustainable EV growth and responsible battery management in the country.
