Oben Electric Honors Bengaluru Traffic Police with #SaluteAtSignal Initiative

Oben Electric, India’s fastest-growing R&D-driven electric motorcycle manufacturer, marked National Road Safety Month with a city-led initiative titled #SaluteAtSignal, honouring the Bengaluru Traffic Police, the frontline force that silently maintains safety, order, and movement across one of India’s most traffic-intensive urban road networks.

Conducted across some of Bengaluru’s most demanding traffic junctions over a week, the initiative sought to shift public attention from congestion and impatience to the human effort behind traffic management. At every red signal, the initiative prompted commuters to look up, take note, and acknowledge the officers who quietly manage the city’s traffic for long hours each day.

Bengaluru’s rapid urban growth has placed sustained pressure on its traffic infrastructure, with traffic police personnel routinely managing high-density intersections for eight hours a day under challenging conditions. #SaluteAtSignal was conceived with a simple yet powerful objective: to honour traffic police officers who uphold road discipline and safety every day, and to foster greater empathy and responsibility among everyday commuters.

The initiative was implemented at Sony Signal, Koramangala, and Vydehi Signal, Whitefield, two of the city’s busiest intersections handling tens of thousands of vehicles daily. During peak evening hours between 6 pm and 9 pm, commuters were invited through brief public announcements to participate in a coordinated red-signal tribute by switching on their parking or hazard lights for a few seconds, refraining from honking, and remaining stationary. The result was a rare, calm collective pause at high-pressure junctions, a visible, shared acknowledgement of the officers on duty.

At Sony Signal, Koramangala, the initiative recognized Shanoor Nadaf (PC 15996) from the Adugodi Traffic Police Station. With nine years of service, he manages traffic for nearly eight hours daily, including close to five peak hours, at an intersection that handles close to one lakh vehicles per shift, making it among central Bengaluru’s most demanding traffic points. Similarly, at Vydehi Signal, Whitefield, Sangamesh Desai (PC 18308) was honoured for his nine years of service with the Bengaluru Traffic Police. On duty for eight hours daily, he manages peak traffic for almost eight hours and oversees approximately 15,000 vehicles per shift at one of Whitefield’s most critical junctions.

To deepen public awareness, informational boards installed at each signal displayed the officer’s name, designation, years of service, duty hours, peak hours handled, and the average number of vehicles managed per shift. These details offered commuters a tangible perspective on the scale, responsibility, and endurance required to keep city traffic moving safely. Over the course of the week, thousands of commuters participated in the initiative across both junctions.

Safety and responsible urban mobility remain central to Oben Electric’s philosophy. Designed, developed, and manufactured in-house at its 3.5-acre Bengaluru facility, the company’s electric motorcycles and critical EV components are engineered with a strong focus on reliability and safety for everyday city commuting. Oben Electric’s patented LFP battery technology is built for enhanced safety, longer life, and dependable urban performance, while its Rorr series, including the Rorr, Rorr EZ, and Rorr EZ Sigma is purpose-built for Indian city conditions.
