NueGo, the flagship intercity electric bus brand of GreenCell Mobility, has completed three years of operations in India, strengthening its position as the country’s largest and fastest-growing player in sustainable intercity travel. With a fleet of over 300 electric buses serving more than 120 cities and operating over 600 daily departures, NueGo has set new standards in comfort, safety, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship.
In just three years, the company’s electric coaches have covered 2,765 million kilometres, preventing more than 261 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to planting 3.53 million trees. The brand has also created significant employment opportunities, with a workforce exceeding 5,000 people, including over 150 women and 10 transgender employees, underscoring its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
To support its growing fleet, NueGo has developed a network of 100+ high-performance superchargers with capacities of 180 kW and 240 kW, capable of fully charging a bus in just two hours.
Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility and NueGo, reflected on the milestone:
“Three years ago, we set out to prove that clean, safe, and inclusive intercity travel wasn’t a distant dream—it could be today’s reality. Every kilometre we drive without emissions is a kilometre towards a greener India, and every woman who travels with confidence is a step towards a more inclusive society. Our next chapter is about scaling this vision so that sustainable and safe travel becomes the norm across every city and town.”
NueGo has also pioneered multiple women-focused initiatives to enhance safety and inclusivity in intercity travel. These include employing women as coach captains and cabin hosts, launching India’s first all-women intercity bus service, and offering reserved “Pink Seats” for women passengers. Additional safety measures feature a 24×7 women’s helpline (1800 267 3366), high-definition CCTV cameras, GPS tracking, AI-enabled driver monitoring, mandatory driver breathalyser tests, and clean, hygienic rest stops—all monitored by a 24×7 Command Control Centre.
As it moves into its next growth phase, NueGo aims to further scale its network, expand its fleet, and continue redefining sustainable, safe, and inclusive intercity travel across India.
