The government of New South Wales has introduced a new interactive tool aimed at making electric vehicle journeys more convenient and engaging. Called EVenturemap, the platform helps drivers locate charging stations while also discovering nearby attractions.
Making Charging Stops More Useful
EVenturemap allows users to search a destination and instantly find nearby EV chargers along with local points of interest. These include cafes, restaurants, parks, shops, events, and essential facilities such as restrooms.
Charging stations equipped with QR codes provide quick access to a customized local guide, highlighting places within walking distance. The same information can also be accessed directly through the website, which automatically centers on the user’s location.
Developed Through Regional Collaboration
The platform has been created under the Joint Organisation Net Zero Accelerator (JONZA) Program, a joint effort involving regional councils and organizations across the state. It is free to use and regularly updated using data from government sources, tourism databases, and local authorities.
Charging operators have also been invited to list their stations, helping expand the network over time.
Supporting EV Adoption and Local Businesses
Authorities say the initiative is designed to improve the overall EV ownership experience while encouraging drivers to explore local areas. By turning charging stops into opportunities to visit nearby attractions, the platform also supports small businesses and regional tourism.
Outlook
With the launch of EVenturemap, New South Wales is taking a broader approach to EV adoption—focusing not just on infrastructure, but also on making journeys more practical and enjoyable for drivers.
