Nova Bus, a Canadian electric bus manufacturer and part of the Volvo Group, has secured a landmark contract to deliver 120 LFSe+ fully electric city buses to Calgary Transit. Production is set to begin in 2027 at the company’s Canadian manufacturing facilities.
The agreement marks a significant expansion of the long-standing partnership between Nova Bus and Calgary Transit, which spans more than 15 years. It aligns with the city’s efforts to decarbonise its public transport fleet, improve service coverage, and reduce long-term operational costs, with federal government support for the investment.
“These buses will complement Calgary’s current fleet of CNG and diesel Nova Bus models, advancing our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Paul Le Houillier, President of Nova Bus.
The LFSe+ model is equipped with dual charging capabilities—overhead pantograph and dual-side plug-in—ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and enabling flexible route planning. Already in service in several North American cities, the LFSe+ is built to meet the high demands of busy urban transit systems.
This major order not only supports domestic manufacturing but also strengthens Canada’s position in the global clean transportation sector, furthering the shift toward greener urban mobility.
