Nissan unveiled its next generation Leaf and the brand-new Micra, among other electric cars. In 2026, the Juke electric compact crossover will join the Nissan electric vehicles that will debut in Europe this year.
Nissan Micra EV
With 40kWh and 52kWh battery pack options, the fifth-generation Nissan Micra EV hatchback is now completely environmentally friendly. The bigger model boasts a range of more than 400km on a single charge. Nissan did not reveal the torque and power numbers.
The platform
The Micra EV and the Renault 5 are based on the same CMF-BEV platform. In France, Renault, which has a partnership with the Japanese carmaker, will produce the emission-free Micra.
Exterior
Many design elements from the motorsport-themed 20-23 EV concept that was unveiled almost a year and a half ago are still present in the production version of the all-electric Micra. In particular, the round LED headlights styled like the Nissan logo are quite similar.
The front bumper’s width-wide light strip has been swapped out for a silver trim, and the wheels, which were originally angular in shape, now have a flat appearance. Traditional rearview mirrors are replaced with thinner ones outside, and the wheel arches receive new gloss-black cladding. Furthermore, the electric Micra lacks a rear spoiler. Its inside remained hidden.
New Nissan Leaf
The EV would have a range of more than 598 kilometers, even though battery specifications were not disclosed.
The platform
The CMF-EV platform, which powers the larger Nissan Ariya, will be employed by the electric Leaf. Nissan’s cutting-edge Sunderland plant, which it says is the largest automobile production facility in the UK in terms of volume, will produce the forthcoming EV.
Exterior
Nissan is showcasing its third-generation Leaf EV in production specifications for the first time. Its length has been somewhat shortened in comparison to the previous Leaf hatchbacks, but its high stance now resembles that of a compact SUV. The redesigned Leaf will have a lower 0.25 drag coefficient (Cd) to increase economy and range, with an emphasis on aerodynamics.
The new Leaf and the all-electric Micra won’t be arriving here from Nissan. On the ICE front, Nissan India plans to introduce a rival Hyundai Creta SUV by 2026 and an MPV based on the Renault Triber in 2025.
