EV Charging Facility a Must in New Multi-Storey Buildings in Jaipur

Planning to increase the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), Jaipur government has issued its plan to install charging facilities in multi-storey buildings under construction in major cities, including Jaipur, over the next six months.

BuildingApproximately 90 projects are currently in various stages of approval or construction, and the necessity of EV charging stations is being addressed in each of these developments.

“Introducing charging facilities in multi-storey buildings is a significant step towards encouraging more people to shift to electric vehicles, easing the transition to a greener mode of transportation,” said a government official. This initiative follows the government’s decision a few months ago to make EV charging facilities mandatory in new construction projects.

Jaipur is expected to host about 50 percent of the state’s projects, with builders required to develop charging infrastructure for at least 10 percent of the total vehicle parking capacity. This development comes at a time when the number of multi-storey building projects is growing at an average of 15% annually.

The new charging facilities are expected to provide significant relief to EV owners, making it more convenient for them to charge their vehicles in residential and commercial buildings across the city.

In total, there are currently 125 multi-storey building projects underway, with 1,500 projects being less than 15 meters in height. The approval process for flat maps in multi-storey buildings now includes both residential and commercial projects.
