Musashi India, a fully owned subsidiary of Musashi Seimitsu Industries of Japan, announced the opening of the Musashi Technology Excellence Centre (MTEC) in Bengaluru, commemorating 23 years since the company started doing business in India.
The facility, which was built on the campus of Atria University and cost ₹100 million in its first year, is dedicated to the study and advancement of electric mobility and energy storage technologies.
Technologies created by Musashi Global in collaboration with foreign partners and suppliers will be tested and validated at the centre. With plans to gradually increase the infrastructure and workforce, MTEC seeks to expedite the rapid prototyping and localisation of technologies for the Indian market.
“The company has expanded from serving a single customer in 2002 to collaborating with top automotive original equipment manufacturers throughout India,” according to Naoya Nishimura, CEO of Musashi India and Africa Region. He underlined the facility’s contribution to fostering local capabilities while upholding the business’s customer-focused philosophy.
The R&D centre will focus on cutting-edge energy storage solutions designed to meet the demands of the Indian market. As part of Musashi’s increased research presence in the nation, the facility is intended to draw engineering talent, such as data scientists and electrochemists. The business intends to combine local manufacturing capabilities with rapid prototyping.
Musashi Seimitsu Industries’ Chief E-Mobility Officer, Masaru Maeda, called the launch a major milestone in the company’s global electric mobility strategy. He emphasised the centre’s function in meeting both local and global demands, as well as India’s significance as a market for next-generation energy solutions.
The project makes use of India’s manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure and is in line with its Net Zero 2030 objectives. In addition to Musashi Energy Solutions’ hybrid supercapacitor production capabilities and strategic guidance from the parent company in Japan, Musashi India will leverage its experience in automotive manufacturing.
Musashi Seimitsu Industries serves manufacturers of two-wheelers and four-wheelers worldwide as a precision forging and machining company.
The business manufactures drivetrain systems for conventional, electric, and driverless vehicles, including differential assemblies, gearbox gears, and suspension parts.
