Montra Electric, the electric mobility brand under the 125-year-old Murugappa Group, has further strengthened its footprint in Northeast India with the inauguration of a new exclusive electric three-wheeler dealership in Silchar, Assam. The facility has been launched in partnership with Sunbird Super Energy Private Limited, marking another key addition to Montra Electric’s rapidly growing retail network.

Located strategically on Sonai Road, the Silchar dealership will retail the company’s flagship electric three-wheelers—SUPER AUTO (Passenger) and SUPER CARGO (Load Carrier). Both models are engineered to deliver high range, strong performance, and reduced operational costs, making them ideal for drivers, fleet operators, and last-mile mobility businesses. The outlet also houses a fully functional service bay with trained technicians and stocked spare parts to ensure quick and reliable after-sales support.

The dealership was inaugurated in the presence of respected dignitaries, including Shri Khalin Uddin Mazumdar (MLA, Katigorah) and Shri Karim Uddin Barbhaya (MLA, Sonai), highlighting the growing regional focus on clean mobility.

Speaking at the launch, Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director, TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd. (Montra Electric), said,

“The opening of our Silchar dealership reaffirms our commitment to building a strong and trusted EV ecosystem across India. Assam is setting a national benchmark for electric three-wheeler adoption, and we are proud to contribute to this progress alongside our partner Sunbird EV.”

      Dealer Principal Suhel Ahmed added,

“We are excited to collaborate with Montra Electric and support Silchar’s transition toward cleaner mobility. With strong customer interest in electric passenger and cargo vehicles, we look forward to serving the region with a customer-centric approach.”

This new outlet is Montra Electric’s 12th dealership in Assam dedicated to electric three-wheelers. The facility includes a 1200 sq. ft showroom and a 900 sq. ft workshop, reinforcing the brand’s service readiness in the region.

Assam is currently one of India’s fastest-growing EV markets, with over 85% of new three-wheelers already electric. The state is on track to become the first in India to achieve 100% electric three-wheeler adoption, showcasing strong consumer confidence in clean and cost-efficient mobility options.

The inauguration of the Silchar dealership marks another milestone in Montra Electric’s nationwide expansion strategy. The company continues to scale its retail and service network to deliver intelligent, sustainable mobility solutions across India.
