MG intends to introduce a new electric SUV to commemorate its participation in the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In addition to competing with the Skoda Enyaq in the UK, the future model is anticipated to be a challenger to the Tesla Model Y.

The firm has only shared one teaser image thus far, with the majority of the design features remaining hidden. The car appears to be similar to the IM6 based on its silhouette. This brand’s car is available for purchase in Thailand and Australia. It is marketed as the IM Motors LS6 in different markets.

SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company, owns the luxury electric vehicle brand IM Motors. When the IM6 makes its debut in the UK, it will be the brand’s first vehicle to bear the MG badge. Diving into the details, the IM6 comes in three versions: Premium, Platinum, and Performance. With a 75 kWh battery and a 291 horsepower electric motor in the back, the entry-level vehicles have a 450 km range, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and can support a maximum charging speed of 153 kW.

Like the XPeng or Hyundai Ioniq 5, the other two models have a bigger 100 kWh battery that allows for up to 555 miles on a single charge and switches from a 400V to an 800V electrical system. Rapid charging is now possible at 396 kW, faster than with any previous Porsche Taycan, thanks to this innovation. Assuming you can find a fast enough charger, you can recharge from 30 to 80 per cent in about 15 minutes.

The performance version also has a dual-motor system that generates 767 horsepower, which enables it to reach 0–6100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, comparable to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
