JSW MG Motor India has introduced a more affordable, fleet-focused version of the MG Windsor EV, called the Commute variant, priced at ₹13.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Designed primarily for commercial use, this new trim undercuts the Excite variant by about ₹61,000, making it a more accessible option for taxi operators.
In Haryana, the on-road price stands at approximately ₹13.93 lakh, including additional charges such as TCS, an essential kit, and FasTag. Buyers can further lower the upfront cost by opting for MG’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which separates the battery cost from the vehicle and offers it on a subscription basis.
The Commute variant focuses on practicality while retaining key features. It comes equipped with manual air conditioning, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, power windows, and multiple USB charging ports for both rows. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster is included, but the larger 10.1-inch touchscreen seen in higher variants has been removed in favor of a basic infotainment system supporting USB, FM, and Bluetooth connectivity. The cabin gets a black interior theme with fabric upholstery, and rear seats offer a reclining function for added passenger comfort.
On the safety front, the vehicle includes dual airbags, four disc brakes, hill-hold assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.
Mechanically, the Commute variant remains unchanged. It is powered by the same 38 kWh battery pack, delivering an ARAI-certified range of around 332 km on a single charge. Charging is handled via a 7.4 kW AC charger, which takes approximately seven hours for a full charge.
With this launch, MG aims to strengthen its presence in the commercial EV segment by offering a cost-effective yet capable electric MPV tailored for fleet operations.
