German EV Firm Reveals Name of Upcoming Smart EV

The name takes inspiration from an iconic British airplane that participated in the England-Australia MacRobertson Air Race in 1934.

German based automotive manufacturer, MG Motor India has revealed the name of its upcoming Smart EV as ‘Comet’.

cometThe name takes inspiration from an iconic British airplane that participated in the England-Australia MacRobertson Air Race in 1934.

The Comet is a response to the challenges of driving in congested urban cities, including increasing fuel costs, scarce parking spaces, and rising pollution.

MG intends to take a “leap of faith” in creating solutions for a better future through Comet, which offers seamless mobility that is connected, automatic, electric, and shared.

MG’s current portfolio includes vehicles named after iconic British airplanes, such as the Hector and Gloster.

According to Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India, “Urban mobility is at a point of inflection where New Age solutions are needed to address both the current as well the forthcoming challenges. As we move further into the digital age, we will witness an exceedingly large number of innovations that could range from futuristic technologies to unique designs to clean mobility and many others. We at MG, through ‘Comet’, intend to take the needed decisive steps and a ‘leap of faith’ in the direction of creating solutions for a better future for each one of us.”
