On January 9, 2025, Mercedes-Benz is scheduled to launch the eagerly anticipated G 580 with EQ Technology to the Indian market. It is essentially a G-Class SUV that runs entirely on electricity. It has a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system and can go 473 kilometers between charges.

Interior Design of the Mercedes G 580 EV: Although some EV-specific modifications are made to give it a new appearance, the Mercedes Benz G 580 EV essentially appears the same as the normal ICE vehicle. The 2017 Mercedes G-Class EV’s front fascia features a four-slat closed-off grille, but owners can swap it out for an EQ-style blanked-off grille with LED surrounds. To give it a more robust appearance, the bumper has been redesigned with cladding along the A-pillar.

The Mercedes G-Class EV features air curtains on the rear wheel arches and a spoiler built into the roof. A spare wheel installed on the boot is included. Customers may, however, choose to replace the spare wheel with a square storage box. Tools and a charging wire will be able to be stored in this box.

The G-Class EV’s twin 12.3-inch digital screens take center stage on the dashboard. The conventional 3-locking differential switches are swapped out for EQ-specific visuals on the display. The ‘tank turn’ function and low range activation are its current uses.

Range & Specifications of the Mercedes G-Class EV: The quad-motor AWD electric drivetrain of the Mercedes G 580 produces 579 horsepower and 1164 mm of peak torque. A 116kWh under-floor battery pack is included. It is stated that the electric SUV can travel up to 473 kilometers between charges. The G 580 EV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 kmph that is electrically regulated.

Up to 200 kW of DC fast charging is supported by the electric SUV. Additionally, up to 11 kW of AC charging is supported. Its approach angle is 32 degrees, and its departure angle is 30.7 degrees. The breakover angle is 20.3 degrees, and the G 580 EV can travel on sideways slopes of up to 35 degrees.

It is probable that the Mercedes G-Class EV will be imported as a CBU. The electric G-Class, which will be supplied in limited quantities, has been available for reservations in India since July 2024.
