Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will launch its much-anticipated electric E-Class sedan in 2027, a year earlier than initially planned. The decision underscores the German automaker’s accelerated shift towards electrification and its commitment to staying competitive in the premium EV segment.
Originally scheduled for 2028, the electric E-Class is now set to hit global markets in 2027, offering customers a fully electric alternative to one of Mercedes’ most successful and recognisable models. The move comes as demand for premium EVs continues to grow rapidly across Europe, North America, and Asia.
According to Mercedes, the upcoming model will be based on the company’s MB.EA platform, designed specifically for mid- to large-sized electric vehicles. It is expected to feature improved range, advanced battery technology, and cutting-edge connectivity features. The electric E-Class will also play a central role in Mercedes’ strategy to achieve a fully electric portfolio in key markets by 2030.
The early launch also reflects the intensifying competition in the EV space, as rivals such as BMW, Audi, and Tesla continue to expand their offerings in the executive sedan category.
Mercedes-Benz stated that additional details regarding specifications, pricing, and regional availability will be revealed closer to the official launch date.
