Maxvolt Energy Industries, a leading Indian lithium-ion battery manufacturer, has announced plans to triple its production capacity to 2.25 lakh units annually, marking a major milestone in its growth journey. The company has acquired 55,000 square feet of land in the Duhai Industrial Area, Ghaziabad, to establish a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing and recycling facility, which is expected to commence operations by December 2025.

The expansion aligns with India’s accelerating shift toward electric mobility and sustainable energy storage solutions. Maxvolt aims to enhance domestic production capabilities to meet the surging demand for EV batteries, energy storage systems (ESS), and renewable energy applications.

Strategic Expansion to Boost India’s Battery Manufacturing Ecosystem

The upcoming Ghaziabad facility will increase Maxvolt’s annual lithium-ion battery capacity from approximately 72,000 units to 2.25 lakh units, significantly boosting output. In addition to manufacturing, the plant will also focus on battery recycling, supporting India’s circular economy goals and minimizing environmental waste from used cells.

According to the company, the integrated facility will include advanced automated production lines, testing labs, and R&D units aimed at improving battery efficiency, safety, and longevity. This expansion will enable Maxvolt to serve a wider range of industries—including electric vehicles, solar power backup, telecom infrastructure, and industrial energy storage.

Commitment to Sustainability and Circular Economy

Maxvolt Energy has been at the forefront of promoting eco-friendly manufacturing practices. The company’s investment in recycling infrastructure reflects its commitment to a closed-loop energy ecosystem, reducing import dependency and ensuring the responsible handling of used lithium cells.

“India’s EV and energy storage sectors are entering a transformative decade,” a Maxvolt spokesperson said. “Our expansion in Ghaziabad will increase manufacturing efficiency and reinforce our role as a trusted partner for clean energy and mobility solutions.”

      Industry and Policy Context

The move comes at a time when India’s battery demand is projected to reach 260 GWh by 2030, driven by electric vehicle adoption and grid-scale energy storage. The government’s policies, including the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme and Battery Waste Management Rules, have encouraged domestic manufacturers like Maxvolt to scale production and invest in sustainable innovation.

Industry analysts believe this expansion will strengthen India’s position in the global lithium-ion value chain while creating employment opportunities and localizing advanced energy technologies.

      Looking Ahead

Once operational, we expect the Ghaziabad plant to significantly enhance Maxvolt’s market share in the EV battery pack and ESS segment. The company plans to further explore partnerships with electric mobility startups, OEMs, and energy service providers to meet the growing demand for high-performance lithium-ion solutions.

With a focus on scalability, sustainability, and innovation, Maxvolt Energy’s expansion represents a critical step in supporting India’s mission toward net-zero emissions and energy independence.
