Suzuki has announced that its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, will come with a 10-year battery warranty in overseas markets. Whether Maruti Suzuki offers the same to its Indian customers remains to be seen.
The electric SUV was launched in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year in January, following its global debut at EICMA 2024 in November.
If the e Vitara is due for its next scheduled service at an approved Suzuki Dealer, the warranty will be available after the original manufacturer warranty of three years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, has expired.
The warranty can be extended once again after the next qualifying service, or until the vehicle has reached the maximum age of 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever earlier. The warranty insures the major parts, and it can be transferred to the new owner for free if the customer sells their car within servicing within the period of 10 years of eligibility.
Moreover, Suzuki cars with a gap in their dealer service history or privately purchased cars also qualify for the Service Activated Warranty.
The e Vitara is driven by lithium-iron-phosphate batteries and features an integrated eAxle that merges the motor and inverter. It is built on the new Heartect-e platform, which was developed jointly with Toyota. Its sensitive design enables smooth overtaking at a range of speeds and quick acceleration from standstill.
