Mahindra & Mahindra has inaugurated its 180 kW ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging network, marking a major milestone in strengthening India’s EV infrastructure. Rolled out under the company’s Charge_IN initiative, the new network aims to address range anxiety and make long-distance EV travel faster, easier, and more reliable.
First Ultra-Fast Charging Stations Go Live
The first Charge_IN ultra-fast charging stations have been commissioned at strategic highway locations, including Hoskote on NH-75 (Bengaluru–Chennai corridor) and Murthal on NH-44 near Delhi. These locations are designed to support high-traffic intercity routes, enabling EV users to recharge conveniently during long journeys.
Each station is equipped with dual-gun 180 kW chargers, allowing multiple electric vehicles to charge simultaneously and significantly reducing waiting times.
High-Speed Charging for Highway Use
The 180 kW ultra-fast chargers are capable of charging compatible electric vehicles from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes, depending on vehicle specifications. This makes the network suitable for highway travel and commercial use, bringing EV charging times closer to traditional refueling stops.
Brand-Agnostic and App-Enabled Network
Mahindra’s Charge_IN network is brand-agnostic, meaning it is open to EVs from all manufacturers. Users can locate, access, and manage charging sessions through the Charge_IN by Mahindra mobile application, improving accessibility and user convenience.
This open-access approach supports wider EV adoption by creating a shared, interoperable charging ecosystem across the country.
Aggressive Expansion Plans by 2027
Mahindra has announced ambitious expansion plans to set up over 250 charging stations, translating into 1,000+ fast-charging points across India by 2027. The rollout will focus on national highways, major expressways, and high-density EV corridors to support both private and commercial electric vehicles.
Supporting India’s EV Transition
The launch aligns with Mahindra’s broader vision to accelerate electric mobility adoption in India by building reliable, high-performance charging infrastructure. By focusing on ultra-fast charging and highway connectivity, the company aims to overcome one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption—range and charging anxiety.
A Step Towards a Future-Ready EV Ecosystem
With the introduction of the 180 kW ultra-fast charging network, Mahindra is positioning itself as a key player in India’s evolving EV infrastructure landscape. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in enabling long-distance electric travel and supporting the country’s transition to cleaner, sustainable mobility.
