The officials of the RTO of the state have been ordered by the Maharashtra government to shut down Ola Electric outlets in its territory. Consequently, Ola Electric outlets would shut down in the cities of Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and numerous other cities.
131 state stores have been under investigation by the Maharashtra government before. Of these, 43 have already been closed down, and 104 were operating without a trade certificate. Ola Electric has denied these claims, though, and informed the same publication its findings are “inaccurate” and “misplaced.”
The Ola Electric showrooms’ sudden surge appeared as a celebratory announcement on Christmas, an year ago, when its CEO and founder, Bhavish Aggarwal boldly stated that its listed EV company had opened 4,000 stores and service centres in the nation.
The sales of the brand, however, did not perform well. Ola Electric kept losing market share to TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto despite these extreme steps. Both of the established companies started sluggishly before gradually expanding and enhancing to offer more hassle-free alternatives in the price bracket of the Ola S1 Pro. Consequently, Bajaj Auto and TVS topped the country’s electric two-wheeler market charts.
But Ola Electric wants to keep things interesting with a highly anticipated future that involves electric motorcycles as well. The Roadster series has already been launched, and production has also begun; deliveries will begin soon.
