Striving to decarbonize road transportation in India, Danish carrier Moller-Maersk has released electric vehicles with plans to cover 77 percent postal codes.

Maersk“With the unveiling of our electric vehicles today, we are now taking steps toward decarbonizing this fleet that will contribute to the larger ambition of becoming net zero by 2040,” says a LinkedIn post.

“Our electric-powered vehicles are ready to be deployed across Tier I cities in India in the first phase and will be focusing on an overall radius of 100km.”

The deployment will be for B2B middle mile distribution and can cover a distance of around 100 km with a maximum of 650 kg payload.

“Next in line will be the EV trailers with a payload of up to 25 Mt.” The EVs are equipped with fast charging technology and are capable of getting to 100 percent charge in just 45 minutes, the post added.

The Maersk plan is to get to 50 vehicles by the end of the year.
