Aptera Motors Corp., a pioneer in solar electric vehicles (EVs), and LG Energy Solution have established an exclusive agreement to supply cylindrical batteries for Aptera’s cutting-edge solar EVs. The partnership was announced at CES 2025 in Las Vegas and was formally established through a three-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with battery module manufacturer CTNS.

An important step toward sustainable transportation is taken with the agreement, which guarantees LG Energy Solution’s position as Aptera’s sole supplier of 2170 cylindrical battery cells for solar EVs from 2025 to 2031.

      Important Partnership Details:

Battery Cell Supply: Beginning in 2025, Aptera’s manufacturing ramp-up will be supported by 4.4GWh of LG Energy Solution’s 2170 cylindrical battery cells.

Excellence in Manufacturing: CTNS will incorporate LG’s cells into premium battery packs and modules that are tailored for Aptera’s solar EVs.

Advanced Solar EV Integration: To achieve industry-leading sustainability and efficiency, Aptera will integrate these elements into its environmentally friendly solar EVs.

With an ultra-aerodynamic design for optimal energy efficiency, Aptera’s solar EV is scheduled to debut in the United States in 2025.

      Important characteristics include:

      • Driving Range: 400 miles (643 km) on a single charge.
      • Solar Charging: Up to 64 km (40 miles) or 16,093 km (10,000 miles) can be powered by integrated panels each day.
      • Eco-Friendly Design: Recyclable materials and a lightweight carbon fiber frame guarantee sustainability and economy.

In keeping with Aptera’s objective to reinvent electric mobility through solar-powered vehicles, this collaboration represents a daring step toward transforming sustainable transportation.
