LeafyBus, India’s pioneering intercity electric bus operator, has raised USD 4.1 million in funding from Enetra India Private Limited, backed by Singapore-based sustainable infrastructure fund Impact Capital Asia Management (ICAM). The investment will accelerate LeafyBus’s plan to scale its operations from 10 to over 100 premium electric buses within the next two years, covering major routes across North, East, and South India.
The company, which currently operates the Delhi–Dehradun corridor using India’s first 360 kW fast-charging station, has demonstrated the operational viability of long-distance electric mobility. LeafyBus completes up to three trips daily on this route, covering 900 km within 24 hours, setting new benchmarks for reliability and efficiency in sustainable transport.
With its latest funding, LeafyBus aims to expand into high-demand corridors connecting Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patna. The expansion strategy focuses on passenger demand, charging readiness, and operational feasibility, supported by advanced technology solutions for trip planning, fleet management, and real-time monitoring.
“India’s intercity transport system is on the brink of a major transformation,” said Rohan Dewan, Founder and CEO of LeafyBus. “This funding provides us the support to expand thoughtfully and innovate responsibly, creating a sustainable and reliable network for millions of passengers.”
Enetra India and ICAM emphasised that their investment aligns with a broader commitment to reducing the environmental impact of India’s transport sector. Neeraj Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of Enetra India, noted, “LeafyBus has proven that electric buses can compete with diesel fleets while delivering profitability and high utilisation. Our investment supports their vision of building a scalable and sustainable transport solution for India’s future.”
By combining disciplined execution, technology-driven operations, and a strong focus on passenger experience, LeafyBus is positioning itself as a category leader in India’s intercity electric mobility landscape.
