LeafyBus, a New Delhi-based intercity electric bus operator, has initiated discussions with Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Shri Daya Shankar Singh to expand electric bus services across the state. The meeting focused on enhancing EV adoption and strengthening intercity connectivity through sustainable mobility solutions.
The Uttar Pradesh government has been actively encouraging the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem by offering incentives, building charging infrastructure, and implementing progressive policies to reduce fuel dependency and emissions. This partnership aligns with the state’s commitment to advancing clean transport and creating a robust framework for future-ready mobility.
Strategic Collaboration for Sustainable Transport
Rohan Dewan, Co-Founder of LeafyBus, emphasized the importance of government partnerships in accelerating EV adoption. “Our discussions with Shri Daya Shankar Singh Ji and the UP Transport Ministry are an important step in expanding electric bus services across the state. With state support, we can build the charging network, operational systems, and policies needed to make intercity EV travel a mainstream option,” he said.
LeafyBus aims to redefine intercity travel by offering cleaner, safer, and cost-efficient transport alternatives to diesel buses. The collaboration with Uttar Pradesh could become a model for how public-private partnerships can accelerate India’s transition to sustainable mobility.
LeafyBus Expansion Roadmap
The company recently raised USD 4.1 million from Enetra India Pvt. Ltd., backed by Singapore’s Impact Capital Asia Management (ICAM), to support its growth. Currently, LeafyBus is India’s only operator of long-distance electric buses, running three daily trips on the Delhi–Dehradun corridor with 900 km of daily coverage, powered by India’s first 360 kW fast-charging station.
Over the next two years, LeafyBus plans to scale its fleet from 10 to over 100 buses, expanding operations to high-demand routes such as Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patna. This expansion will not only improve passenger convenience but also help reduce the carbon footprint of India’s intercity transport sector.
Looking Ahead
As discussions progress, LeafyBus and the UP government are expected to finalize agreements in the coming days. If implemented, the partnership could transform intercity travel in Uttar Pradesh by making electric buses a mainstream, reliable, and sustainable choice for millions of passengers.
